What Shoes Can I Wear With My Shorts?

It's an age old decision for guys: "Should I wear the sandals with shorts, or regular shoes with socks up to my knees? Nah, maybe I'll go barefoot and discover what broken glass feels like in my foot!" Wearing shoes and shorts together may be a comfortable way to dress, but does it look good?

Whatever you think about your footwear, let's take a look at some dos and don'ts.

Just...don't. White socks look bad enough, man. Shoes and shorts are one thing, but please, love yourself enough not to go out in public sporting this look. Women will laugh at you. Maybe not to your face, but once you flip-flop on by...the giggling will commence. I know, I know. It's super comfortable. You get all the benefits of socks and sandals without all the negatives. I'm still thinking about what those are, exactly, but it's just not worth it. Trust me.

Sandals without socks is a good option. You won't be winning any fashion awards, but you'll be comfortable and you won't look like an idiot. Just make sure to wash your feet. You might like the smell, but no one else does.

Sometimes shoes and shorts together are a necessity. Unless you're about to go get serious on the court and shoot some three pointers, don't rock this look. You might think you're LeBron James, but chances are you'll just look like a doofus. (unless you really are LeBron James)

Lo-tops, running shoes, or sneakers are a pretty neutral selection however. They usually don't look all that great, but they don't look totally awful either. Your comfort is very important, so don't give up too much just to look good.

Regular, run-of-the-mill loafers. You can't go wrong with loafers for a shoes and shorts combo. Well, you can, if you decide to wear them with the knee-high grandpa socks. Just toss them on with no socks or a pair of very short socks and go to town. They are the best look of the entire bunch and can generally be gotten fairly cheap unless you're going for some of that Italian leather stuff or something, moneybags.

Apparently there is a new product that has been brought to my attention!

The creator of Breezy Socks sent me an email recently directing me to his website where he has begun to sell low cut socks designed specially to be worn WITH sandals. What a true spark of inventiveness, and I must say, these socks actually do look pretty darn good with sandals!
